If your seriously trnyig to sell your house, then the purple carpet has to go. Keep rooms carpets neutral colors. Beige/tans for carpets or if you have decent wood floors underneath, place throw rugs down. Keep walls light. The idea is for potential buyers to see how they would like to decorate it which is easier with light colors, as it makes it more bright, airy appear bigger.Put clutter, knicknacks, etc. away, as these things can ve distracting. You want to basically give them a clean canvas to which they can envision how they want there belongings to appear.Bring your purple carpet with you to your new home. Good Luck! by Stef posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

It's not a matetr of what I think is best. It's a matetr of what you and your husband feel most confident doing. The tiler will charge more then the painter. Both jobs are time consuming. Far more expertise is required to lay the floors (not saying that professional painters aren't professional) But from a dyi homeowner perspective the proper underlayment, prep, set up, spacing, grouting and sealing for a tile floor is more daunting. Laminate will require precise cuts and corner notching. In the end where are YOUR services to help better off. You have to consider your time and input on both parts.Personally I would have the floors done. If you miss the time window on the painting all is not lost its a one 1/2 day upheaval per furnished room with both of you busy working. Getting the floors in properly and set before you move in is a bigger deal. by Audrey posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

I would go with the laminate floor. Painting is easy enuogh, just labor intensive if you do not have professional tools. I wouldn't want to take my chances on flooring though. I would leave that to the professionals. If you are a little apprehensive on doing the painting, you can go to a home improvement store and they can walk you through it and get you the stuff you need. Make sure you get some tape, plastic sheeting, rollers, a screen to squeeze the excess paint of the roller and a small detail brush. If they try to sell you anything else, it is probably best to say no. They'll even help you with the paint selection. by Ricki posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

Purple is a cool colour. It is cmmtleoenpary to yellow. Using anything yellowish will accent the purple. Using a cool colour will make the purple seem less obvious. I would go with a light grey colour, towards the blue side. That combination will look spacious and calming. I had light grey on my walls for years and found it very easy to live with. If you really must use an off-white, make it a cool off-white. by Natty posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

Do the laminate and

Do the laminate and tlinig yourselves. Laminate you can stop and start at your own pace w/o worry of a big clean up and it won t matter where you leave off. Tile projects on average can be done in a weekend with proper planning or even a weekend and grout at nite or the next weekend. Painting a 2 story is slow and can be dangerous. Its hard on the legs being on a ladder and you just shouldn t stop any place. And the clean up to maintain brushes and stuff. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. A beige or a light light sandy brown color. It'll make it seem more light. If you're selling your home also I susgget playing light relaxing music when people come to look at it, keep it in tip top cleaning shape, turn on a fireplace if you have one, and put away all clutter. by Micheal posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

I have done both. In new construction pitinang consumes more time than floor installation. It depends on your level of expertise. A good painter may save a lot of headaches and time. However, a good floor installer could move your schedule up and provide more time for pitinang. I would hire the painter. by Patricia posted on Friday, September 18, 2015

Robert: thank you. I still think some things would be easier (e.g. marketing) if I had an agent and a publisher; on the other hand I prefer being judged by readers. by Jacklynn posted on Saturday, January 21, 2017
